Installations

Full and partial rewires, planned to minimise disruption.

Whether it's a full rewire on an older property or bringing a few circuits up to modern standards, we plan the work around your home and test everything before we leave — with a certificate to match.

What's Involved

Old wiring doesn't just wear out quietly.

Homes wired more than 25-30 years ago often have rubber, fabric or early PVC cabling, no RCD protection, and circuits that have been added to piecemeal over the years. A rewire replaces the lot with modern twin-and-earth cable, properly protected and tested.

We don't always need to rewire the whole house — sometimes it's a partial rewire covering the circuits that actually need it, which we'll be upfront about after a proper survey rather than upselling a full rewire by default.

  • Full or partial rewires, matched to what the property actually needs
  • New consumer unit with RCBO protection as standard
  • Chasing, cabling and back boxes — first fix through to final testing
  • Circuits tested and an Electrical Installation Certificate issued
  • Work areas protected and cleared up before we leave each day

How It Works

Four stages, planned before we start.

Survey & quote

We look at what's actually there and quote for what's needed — full or partial.

Plan around you

Access, room order and timings agreed upfront so there are no surprises mid-job.

First fix

Chasing, cabling and back boxes fitted, protecting flooring and furniture as we go.

Second fix, test & certify

Sockets, switches and the consumer unit fitted, then every circuit tested and certified.

Common Questions

FAQs

How messy is a rewire?
There's no getting around some disruption — chasing walls for cable does create dust and mean patching plaster afterwards. We protect floors and furniture, and make good the areas we've worked on, though full replastering and decorating isn't part of the electrical work itself.
How long does a full rewire take?
A typical 3-bed semi usually takes around 4-6 working days, depending on the property and how much needs doing. We'll give you a realistic timeframe once we've surveyed the job.
Do I need to move out during a rewire?
Not usually for a partial rewire. For a full rewire, most people find it easier to be out during the day, and some rooms may be without power temporarily — we'll talk through what to expect for your specific property.
Will I get a certificate at the end?
Yes — an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) covering the new work, plus building control notification where required, since rewires are notifiable work under Part P.
