Skelmersdale was built as a new town from 1961, designed to house overspill population from Liverpool. That means a lot of the housing stock — semis and terraces across estates like Digmoor, Tanhouse and Birch Green — dates from a fairly concentrated period, which shows up in a fairly consistent pattern of electrical issues.
